Complete was asked by major insurers to perform appraisal and expert witness services on dozens of properties on the coast of Mississippi following Hurricane Katrina. Many of these losses were slab cases. Completes’ work included identification of the wind and flood damages separated by cause of loss, appraisal of the wind damages alone and replacement cost determinations.
The properties included both commercial and residential losses. For the purpose of this work we reviewed meteorological data, flood inundation maps, permitting and flood zone information from the local municipalities as well as engineering and eye witness reports. In addition, we conducted site inspections on each file and took empirical data from these visits to establish the damages and costs.
