Complete was hired by the insurer to be the appraiser in the alternative dispute resolution process included in the property owner’s policy. This property was damaged by Hurricane Ike and, in the process of the restoration, a change in brand was completed in conjunction with the hurricane repairs. It was the responsibility of the appraisal panel to determine what was the damage associated with the hurricane damage and the subsequent water damage.
What was important in this project was to determine the openings created by the wind and tracking that damage through the interiors. We had to focus solely on water damage from the wind claim only and any other non-covered peril without determining the policy. This property was multiple floors, containing more than 50,000 SF, and millions in repair costs.
