John Minor was pleased to be selected by the parties and affirmed by the insurance company attorneys and plaintiffs’ counsel on this multimillion dollar appraisal arising from Hurricane Ike damage in Texas. The First church of Pearland was more than 75,000 sq ft with multiple additional buildings and layers of coverage. We had worked with both appraisers in the past and respected the skill that both of them brought to the table. This file had been worked by a public adjuster as well as the insurance company adjuster prior to coming to appraisal.
The big issues related as to what was repair of wind damaged building components and which portion of tether work had to do with betterment. For the purpose of establishing the value we wrote an Xactimate estimate and then compared it with incurred costs. The deliberations took some time but a fair and just award was reached and signed by all after both appraisers very directly identified their prospective positions.
